The problem of recycling is, that it's quite complex and expensive business. Not every recycling process is carried out carefully. Because apart from quality materials, such as food containers, colorless bottles there are colorful bottles that have to be recycled.
According to Michael C. Munger in "Recycling: Can It Be Wrong, When It Feels So Right?" - "Recycling, including the costs of collecting the waste in tiny, mixed amounts, transporting the waste to a handling facility, sorting it, cleaning it, repackaging it, and then transporting it again, often for great distances, to a market that will buy the commodity for some actual use, is almost always more expensive than landfilling that same waste in a local facility". He is arguing for extended producer responsibility. This approach will encourage better results in terms of waste management.

Additionally, it presents “slow shrink behavior” which prevents the “smiling” and “frowning” effects, allowing the sleeve to perfectly adhere to the container for delivering a perfect result. Existing methods of recycling PETg can be divided into two main groups: mechanical and physico-chemical.
The main mechanical method is shredding that. Such process allows to obtain powdery materials for future injection molding. The disposal of PETg can be effected by controlled burning at a temperature of at least 850 ° C.
Also there are prospects for biological methods of recycling PETg. The bacterium Ideonella sakaiensis was discovered by the Japanese scientists, which is capable of decomposing PETg to terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol in about six weeks.
It is a new type of packaging material which meet the requirements of environmental protection, and has a lot of useful features. OPS shrink film has excellent transparency and gloss. Due to its low vertical shrinkage, OPS provides increased strength and dimensional stability. Most often, this material is used for packaging and labeling elastic bottles.
The Polimex OPS shrink film is produced by flat-die extrusion with the subsequent orientation in the TD direction. The low density of the film makes it more cost effective and easier to separate in recycling operations.
PLA shrink film can be completely decomposed. PLA uses the raw material made from plants mainly based on corns, sugarcanes or potatoes. This material has high degree of transparency, and it’s suitable for printing and processing. Exact color matching is easy with PLA. It’s perfect for packaging and labeling food containers.
It can be decomposed in compost in one month at a humidity of 80% and temperatures of 55–70 °С. However, at low temperatures and low air humidity, that are common to everyday environments, the polylactide storage is not a problem. PLA dissolves into Methylene Chloride (dichloromethane).
So, as we can see, such massive problem like plastic pollution requires a multilateral approach that includes source reduction, reuse and recycling. It's obvious, everyone has to be involved in this game.
